Super Bowl Sunday

Super Bowl Sunday

  • News

It’s that time again! America’s favorite holiday: Super Bowl Sunday! This year pits the Philadelphia Eagles against the Kansas City Chiefs, both of whom finished the season with an impressive 14-3 record. Although the Eagles are favored to win, oddsmakers think the game will be close.

So, what do fans have to look forward to?

  1. Andy Reid. The Chiefs coach took the Eagles to a Super Bowl but never won one while in Philly. Considering Philly fans’ reputation, it’s surprising that many of them still love Reid, but we’ll see if the love abides now that he’s now leading the Chiefs!
  2. History-making. This is the first Super Bowl in history where both starting quarterbacks are black. Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes dazzles in the air, averaging over 300 yards passing per game. Young Eagles star, Jalen Hurts, has a solid arm but also has the legs, rushing for 760 yards and a QB single season record 15 rushing touchdowns.
  3. Brotherly love. Eagles center, Jason Kelce, will face his brother Travis, the tight end for the Chiefs, in the first ever Super Bowl to pit brother against brother. Mom already says that she can’t lose—but we know someone will definitely be her favorite after Sunday’s game!
  4. Food and beer. Considering Kansas City’s penchant for bbq and Philadelphia’s love affair with cheesesteaks even on non-Super Bowl days, these projections may be grossly underestimated but Wallethub.com estimates that 51.7 million cases of beer and over 8,000 calories worth of food will be consumed this Sunday. Diet starts Monday, right?

Viewers can enjoy the Super Bowl on FOX. Kick-off is at 6:30 EST.
